October 2013 Meeting

Manatee County School Superintendent, Rick Mills

Manatee County School Superintendent Rick Mills along with Deputy Superintendents Dr. Diana Greene and Don Hall were the guest speakers at the October meeting of the East Manatee Republican Club.  Superintendent Mills provided club members and guests with an interesting and very informative overview of the changes he and his team are making in an effort to make the necessary improvements in the Manatee School District's performance.  He said that changes in the culture of the school district, its mentality and fiscal discipline, the development of leadership, and most importantly, the academic focus are changes that are being made.  Superintendent Mills believes that the administration has the recipe for success, but that these changes from the way things were previously being done needed to be made.

The next EMRC meeting is on Thursday, November 7, 2013, and will feature a presentation by Mr. Axex English regarding  the Tampa Bay Area Regional Transit Authority (TBARTA)

Our Annual Christmas Bruch is scheduled for Thursday, December 12, 2013, and it will include a guest presentation by Retired Air Force Colonel Brad Smith who spent seven years in a North Korean POW camp.  A military Honor Guard, Christmas music, and a collection for "Toys for Tots" will also be featured.  Please mark your calendars for these two meetings now.
